Rosebush Pruning

This film about rich, miserable siblings falling apart at a Spanish villa is a divisive slog that leaves most viewers cold. The plot, centered on Jack's romance and Ed uncovering the truth about their mother, gets absolutely hammered for being predictable and thin, with many specifically blaming writer Efthimis Filippou's dialogue for the empty feeling. The cast, including Callum Turner's Ed, Elle Fanning's Martha, and Jamie Bell's Jack, mostly underwhelms, with Tracy Letts's Father being one of the few performances that lands for some. While a few liked the pretty visuals, that's nowhere near enough to save it.
