A Different World reboot gets a second season order from Netflix

Hillman College will welcome back students for another year. Netflix has officially renewed its reboot of the classic sitcom "A Different World" for a second season, per reports from Variety and TVLine.
The revival series, which premiered on September 24, follows Deborah Wayne, the daughter of original characters Dwayne and Whitley, as she navigates freshman year at the HBCU. The show's creator, Felicia Pride, said in a statement that the team is "beyond excited to return to Hillman."
According to TVLine, citing Netflix data, the show's debut landed a spot on the streamer's worldwide most-watched English-language television chart. Executive producer Debbie Allen celebrated the renewal in a statement, exclaiming, "YAY! HALLELUJAH! The people and Netflix have spoken."
The official description for season two says the characters will return to campus after their summer breaks with fresh attitudes, only to confront old choices, new romances, and bigger life questions. The cast includes Maleah Joi Moon alongside a group of actors playing her fellow students.
Original series stars Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison reprise their roles as Deborah's parents, with other familiar faces like Darryl M. Bell and Cree Summer also returning. Netflix's head of comedy series, Tracey Pakosta, said the team is thrilled by the global audience response.
