A New Live-Action Flintstones Movie Is Brewing at Warner Bros
Warner Bros. is digging up a new live-action take on The Flintstones, with Ryan Gosling attached as a producer. The Hollywood Reporter confirms Gosling and his production partner Jessie Henderson will produce the project through their Open Invite banner.
According to Deadline, the film will shift the focus away from Fred and Wilma. Instead, the story is said to center on Bamm-Bamm Rubble, the super-strong adopted son of Fred's best friend, Barney Rubble.
The project is reportedly in early development and is currently searching for a screenwriter. No other plot details have been revealed.
The property has made the jump to live-action before. Universal released a film in 1994 featuring John Goodman in the role of Fred Flintstone and Rick Moranis as Barney Rubble. That movie was a global box office hit.
This new film is separate from other recent attempts to revive the franchise, including an animated sequel series at Fox that was announced in 2021 and later shelved.
