A Talent for Murder trailer pits Helen Mirren against Alden Ehrenreich
The first trailer has dropped for the psychological thriller A Talent for Murder, starring Helen Mirren and Alden Ehrenreich. Collider reports the footage shows Mirren as reclusive crime novelist Patricia Highsmith, who is visited in her Swiss Alps home by a publisher's rep, Edward Ridgeway, played by Ehrenreich.
Ridgeway's mission is to convince Highsmith to write one more Tom Ripley novel, a request she initially refuses. According to the trailer, she proposes a twisted test: if Ridgeway can convincingly play the part of a killer, she'll consider the book deal. This dangerous game soon muddies what is real and what is imagined.
JoBlo notes the film is adapted by Joanna Murray-Smith from her own 2014 stage play, Switzerland. Dutch director Anton Corbijn helms the project, which also stars Olivia Cooke and Juliet Stevenson.
Per both outlets, A Talent for Murder will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before hitting theaters on October 23, 2026.
