Activision QA union authorizes strike ahead of Modern Warfare 4 launch

A union representing nearly 600 quality assurance workers at Activision has voted to authorize a strike, per Rock Paper Shotgun. The move comes just a week before the scheduled launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
According to a statement from bargaining committee member Emily Danko, negotiations have dragged on for over two years with little progress on key issues like wages, accommodations, and protections against AI and layoffs. Danko said the union is exploring all options to get a fair contract.
Activision provided a statement to Kotaku claiming it has bargained in good faith and made meaningful progress. The company said it has offered to meet again later this month and respects employees' right to strike.
One tester told Kotaku that the team continues to work on the upcoming game but needs fair pay and job security to do so effectively. The union, formed in March 2024, plans to strike if conditions do not improve.
