Adam Driver Confirmed as New Villain for Heat 2

Adam Driver has officially boarded the cast of Michael Mann's "Heat 2," according to a report from MovieWeb. The news came via co-star Stephen Graham, who mentioned Driver's involvement during an interview with Virgin Radio UK.

Graham confirmed his own role and that of previously announced leads Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale. While he did not specify Driver's part, MovieWeb states the actor is set to portray the sadistic killer Otis Wardell, a central villain from the 2022 novel the film adapts.

The main cast is now locked. DiCaprio plays Chris Shiherlis, a role originated by Val Kilmer. Christian Bale steps in as detective Vincent Hanna, originally played by Al Pacino. Stephen Graham will portray the young Neil McCauley, a part made famous by Robert De Niro.

The film will follow the novel's dual-timeline story, tracking Shiherlis on the run after the first film's finale while also flashing back to a 1988 Chicago case involving Wardell. Production is moving ahead under Amazon MGM Studios after Warner Bros. dropped the project over budget issues.

No release date has been set, but the long-awaited sequel is finally heating up.
