Ali G returns after 20 years in first trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen mockumentary
Amazon MGM has dropped the first look at Sacha Baron Cohen's return as his iconic character. The trailer for "Ali G: Who Iz I?" reveals the project is a mockumentary where the clueless wannabe journalist interacts with real people, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The plot, according to Variety, finds Ali G learning his long-term girlfriend Julie, played by Morgana Robinson, is eight months pregnant after two decades of leisure. Needing to provide, he heads to America to revive his fame.
The footage shows Cohen fully in character, taking classes, walking streets, and appearing on shows, sometimes with his pregnant partner. In the trailer, Ali G boasts the project has "the very latest firearms technology, action, drama, heartbreak, plot twists and the very latest TikTok trends."
This film marks Cohen's debut as a director. As noted by /Film, the movie was reportedly shot secretly, similar to his Borat films, suggesting unsuspecting public encounters.
"Ali G: Who Iz I?" is scheduled to hit theaters on October 23, 2026.
