Amazon's 'Carrie' series is the world's number one show

Amazon's new adaptation of Stephen King's 'Carrie' is officially the biggest series on the planet, per MovieWeb. The eight-episode revenge thriller, adapted by Mike Flanagan, premiered on October 7 and has held the number one spot on Prime Video's global and U.S. charts ever since.

The show's success has knocked the popular 'Reacher' franchise down a peg, with 'Reacher' and its spin-off 'Neagley' currently sitting in second and third place. The report notes the series has sparked debate among viewers, but that hasn't stopped them from watching.

Despite being dethroned, the 'Reacher' universe is still expanding. Season 5 is in production and will adapt Lee Child's novel 'Make Me,' featuring Alan Ritchson and new cast members Jay Baruchel, Kevin Durand, and Amanda Ip. Author Child teased the season as a 'brutal' and 'disgusting' story.

Amazon has already renewed 'Reacher' for a sixth season. The 'Neagley' spin-off has also been greenlit for a second season, confirming the studio's investment in the action franchise.

The new 'Carrie' series offers a modern take on the classic story of a telekinetic teenager fighting back against bullies.
