Anne Hathaway revealed that the long-awaited Princess Diaries 3 recently had a major story breakthrough, but only after the team had to completely scrap a script and start over. According to Variety, she says the project is "moving in the right direction."
However, filming isn't imminent. Hathaway told SiriusXM's "Radio Andy" that her current pregnancy has taken priority, temporarily delaying when she can step back into Mia Thermopolis's shoes. As reported by MovieWeb, the script rebuild and her personal timeline mean the royal return is still down the road.
