Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Evans Face Off in First Photos for Netflix's 'Sacrifice'
Netflix has dropped the first look at its new thriller 'Sacrifice,' starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Evans. The film is set to premiere on the streaming service on October 16, 2026, according to Collider.
The images reveal the high-stakes premise. Per Collider, Evans plays Mike Tyler, a movie star trying to salvage his career after a viral public meltdown. His comeback attempt lands him at a swanky environmental gala hosted by a billionaire, a role filled by Vincent Cassel, and his wife, played by Salma Hayek Pinault.
Things go off the rails when Taylor-Joy's character, Joan, leads a radical group in violently taking over the event. MovieWeb reports the group believes it must fulfill a volcanic prophecy to cleanse the Earth, turning the charity night into a hostage crisis.
The film also features Ambika Mod, John Malkovich, and musicians Charli XCX and Yung Lean. It marks the English-language directorial debut of Romain Gavras, who co-wrote the script with 'Succession' alum Will Arbery.
Collider notes the project aims to satirize celebrity culture, performative activism, and elite hypocrisy, evolving from social satire into a tense thriller.
