Arc Raiders player count soars to 7-month high with new grappling hook and map

Arc Raiders just hit its highest player count on PC in seven months. IGN reports that the concurrent user number on Steam jumped to 166,670, a peak not seen since early April.
The spike follows the release of the Frozen Trail update, which launched on October 8. The update introduced a new snowy map called Pendola Pass and a grappling hook that players are comparing to Spider-Man's web-slinging. A free weekend running through October 12 and a 50% off sale also drove the influx.
According to the report, the game had recently struggled, hitting a low of around 10,000 players in September. The new content, which also includes enemies like the Bully and Skulker as well as a Tether Launcher, has reignited interest.
Players on social media praised the update's scope, with one cited Reddit post calling it an exceptionally strong overhaul that changed their mind about the developers. The new tools, especially the grappling hook, have fueled a wave of shareable clips online.
