Aspyr confirms more Lord of the Rings game remasters are on the way
Fans of classic Middle-earth gaming, get ready for a return trip. Aspyr Media has confirmed plans to re-release more classic 'The Lord of the Rings' video games, according to multiple reports. This follows the company's surprise shadow-drop of 'The Lord of the Rings: War in the North - Legacy Edition' on modern platforms.
Aspyr stated in a press release that fans can "look forward to even more classic releases" from the Tolkien-based series in the future, per IGN and GameSpot. The publisher was light on specifics, so which games are next remains a mystery.
The re-release of the 2011 co-op action RPG 'War in the North' is now available. This unexpected remaster, noted by Eurogamer for its three-player co-op, is positioned as just the first of a larger effort to revive games from the franchise's catalog.
