Avowed 2 development reportedly continues with a skeleton crew

The sequel to the upcoming fantasy RPG Avowed may not be completely dead, according to a new report. Push Square says Obsidian Entertainment has kept a skeleton crew working on the cancelled Avowed 2, despite the team's primary focus shifting to a new Fallout title.

This news comes as Microsoft confirmed massive layoffs this week, cutting 1,600 Xbox employees and disbanding four first-party studios. The report suggests the small team on Avowed 2 will remain in place until they are needed for the new Fallout project.

While the game was cancelled internally, this ongoing work indicates Microsoft and Obsidian might still see a future for the sequel.
