Ben Affleck calls Justice League reshoots his career low point

Ben Affleck described the reshoots for "Justice League" as the worst moment of his professional life, according to a new podcast interview covered by Variety. The actor called the experience "so negative" and "so gross."

Affleck appeared on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, where he detailed the turmoil after Warner Bros. replaced director Zack Snyder with Joss Whedon. Per Variety, Affleck said the studio using the tragedy of Snyder's daughter's death as an excuse to change directors was "one of the shittiest things I've ever seen."

The reports note Snyder had to pause work after his daughter died by suicide. Whedon was brought in for extensive reshoots, which Snyder estimated covered 60 new pages of material. Affleck said the on-set environment during this time was "about as gross as it gets."

Polygon and /Film report Affleck also connected this period to personal struggles, including his divorce and drinking. He stated those personal issues, while painful, were separate from the film's problems, which he blamed on the studio being at odds with the filmmaker.

Affleck expressed relief that Snyder later released his own cut of the film, calling that outcome "fucking great." He concluded by telling the podcast that if anyone wanted to know the low point of his career, "it was that."
