Ben Affleck's Canceled Batman Movie Would Have Killed Commissioner Gordon

Joe Manganiello, who was cast as Deathstroke in Ben Affleck's unmade Batman film, has revealed a major plot point from the scrapped script.

Speaking with outlets, Manganiello confirmed that the villain would have killed Gotham Police Commissioner Jim Gordon, played by J.K. Simmons, per /Film. This detail confirms a long-standing rumor about the project.

The actor explained that Batgirl, who was also set to appear, would have been motivated to take down Deathstroke as her father's murderer. Manganiello said a major mid-movie fight would have seen Deathstroke nearly kill both Batman and Batgirl before they escaped via an above-ground train.

The film was intended to follow a scene in "Zack Snyder's Justice League," where Lex Luthor gives Batman's secret identity to Deathstroke. The canceled Batgirl movie later had to adjust its story to fit new DC Universe plans, including featuring Michael Keaton's Batman instead of Affleck's.

It remains unclear if Affleck's film would have served as Batgirl's origin story or if she would have gotten a separate solo movie.
