Ben Jones, 'Dukes of Hazzard' Actor and Former Congressman, Dies at 84
Ben Jones, the actor and politician famous for playing mechanic Cooter Davenport on the hit show 'The Dukes of Hazzard,' has died at 84.
Variety reports his wife, Alma Viator, confirmed his death from a heart attack in a social media post on Sunday. He spent seven seasons on the CBS series and later served two terms representing Georgia in the U.S. Congress.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jones had previously overcome a drinking problem before finding success on television and in his political career.
