Ben McKenzie Joins 'Sheriff Country' Season 2 Opposite Wife Morena Baccarin
TVLine reports that Ben McKenzie is set for a guest role in the upcoming second season of CBS's "Sheriff Country." He will appear in the season premiere on October 9 as Sheriff Wade, a neighboring lawman who assists Mickey Fox, played by his real-life wife Morena Baccarin.
The premiere episode, titled "Cyclone," finds Mickey grappling with the revelation that her mother, DEA Deputy Director Eva Santos, is alive. The official synopsis notes she will also be racing to save a young woman from a dangerous criminal operation.
McKenzie and Baccarin previously worked together on the Fox series "Gotham." McKenzie is best known for starring as Ryan Atwood on "The O.C."
The series, a spin-off of "Fire Country," stars Baccarin as Sheriff Mickey Fox. Season 1 ended with the cliffhanger that Mickey's long-lost mother, a DEA official, had resurfaced and proposed they team up against a cartel.
TVLine notes that several cast members have been promoted to series regulars for Season 2, including Amanda Arcuri and Ian Quinlan. The show was renewed last December after just six episodes of its first season.
