Beth Greene returns in a zombie-free 'Dead City' alternate reality episode
An alternate reality is bringing a long-dead character back to life on 'The Walking Dead: Dead City'. According to JoBlo, Emily Kinney is reprising her role as Beth Greene for an upcoming episode that imagines a world without the zombie apocalypse.
In this storyline, Beth is alive and living in New York City, pursuing a career as a musician. Her character was originally killed during the fifth season of the flagship series.
Kinney told Entertainment Weekly she was surprised by the return, having never expected to come back after the main show ended. She noted it felt natural to reunite with co-star Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, describing their on-set chemistry as sisterly.
The episode will feature Beth performing one of Kinney's original songs, 'Reasons to Stay Alive'. Kinney pitched the track after the script simply called for a folk song. She has also put out a fresh recording of 'Hold On', a song her character sang in season three. It's the lead single for an upcoming EP of music she performed as Beth.
