Beyond Good & Evil 2 still alive, developer confirms in social media update
The perpetually delayed sequel Beyond Good & Evil 2 is, against all odds, still being worked on. This according to a brief social media post from a Ubisoft Bordeaux narrative designer, reported by Eurogamer.
Rik Godwin, who holds narrative roles on the project, stated on Bluesky that he has spent the last few months contributing to the game in a consulting capacity. He specifically noted he had permission from Ubisoft to share this minor update.
The game was first announced in 2008 and has become a poster child for development hell. Eurogamer notes it even set a Guinness World Record in 2022 for the longest development cycle for a video game.
Ubisoft has periodically issued statements insisting the project is not canceled, with the last corporate reassurance coming earlier this year. Godwin's personal confirmation adds a new, albeit small, data point that the title remains in active, if glacial, development.
