Blizzard's StarCraft website glitches, fueling new game rumors ahead of BlizzCon
Blizzard's official StarCraft website is behaving strangely, showing flickering images and text, per IGN. The digital disturbance appears intentional, sparking speculation that the company is teasing a new project for the long-dormant franchise.
This follows a report from South Korean newspaper Chosun, as noted by both IGN and PC Gamer, that gaming company Nexon is in talks to secure rights to make a StarCraft title. Earlier rumors this year had also pointed to a potential partnership between Blizzard and Nexon for a shooter set in the universe.
Separately, IGN reports that Blizzard itself may have been developing a new open-world shooter, citing a 2024 job listing and the involvement of former Far Cry producer Dan Hay. It remains unclear if these reported projects are related or even the same game.
The timing is conspicuous with BlizzCon 2026 starting September 12. PC Gamer points out that fans have spotted a mysterious one-hour gap in the main stage schedule on the first day, a slot far larger than the breaks between other panels.
With the website acting up and a prime spot open at the convention, the stage seems set for an announcement. Both outlets have reached out to Blizzard for comment.
