Brandon Sanderson Teases Script, Casting, and Changes for 'Mistborn' Movie
Author Brandon Sanderson is deep in the development of the 'Mistborn' film adaptation and has shared several new details, per MovieWeb. Sanderson confirmed he has finished writing the screenplay, though he cautioned it's just an early step in a long process.
He also announced he has selected a producer he is very pleased with after extensive interviews. The next major step, Sanderson said, is now hunting for a director for the project.
On casting, Sanderson teased that the character Kelsier will be the 'headliner,' played by an established actor. He suggested Vin could be portrayed by a newer talent from a wide pool of young actresses.
The author revealed one story change is likely: adjusting the characters' ages. He indicated he will probably make Vin older for the film, noting her maturity always read beyond her teenage years in the books.
Sanderson also addressed the complex magic system of Allomancy, telling a podcast he plans to simplify it for the screen. He said some abilities will be downplayed so new viewers aren't overwhelmed, though dedicated fans may spot subtle references.
Finally, the author has reportedly written a cameo for himself into the script.
