Call of Duty Warzone adds toggle to hide other players' silly skins
Call of Duty players tired of seeing Lionel Messi or cartoon characters running around in Warzone are finally getting their wish. As reported by Kotaku and Push Square, a new 'Operator Skin toggle' is coming to the battle royale with the launch of Modern Warfare 4.
The feature, announced by Activision, will let players filter out cosmetic items from past Call of Duty games when other players use them. When the toggle is on, those wacky skins will be replaced on your screen with generic Modern Warfare 4-appropriate operators. This applies to both enemy players and teammates in matches and lobbies.
Activision confirmed the toggle will be off by default, so players will need to activate it in the options. According to the publisher, the move aims to support both players who enjoy the crossover variety and those who want Warzone to feel more aligned with the latest game's world.
Push Square notes the setting is specifically for skins from games prior to Modern Warfare 4. This raises the question of what happens if MW4 itself adds silly cosmetics later on. Activision has claimed such skins aren't planned for the new game, but Kotaku points out that promises in the franchise have been broken before.
The update is set to go live when Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 24.
