Camron Jones to play Tupac Shakur in Universal's Snoop Dogg biopic
Camron Jones has landed the high-profile role of Tupac Shakur in the upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic for Universal, according to exclusive reporting from The Hollywood Reporter. The film, simply titled 'Snoop,' is being directed by Craig Brewer.
Variety confirms that Lauren London has also joined the cast to portray Snoop Dogg's late mother, Beverly Tate. Jonathan Daviss, known from 'Outer Banks,' is set to star as the rap legend Snoop Dogg himself.
The Hollywood Reporter notes the project is being produced by Snoop Dogg, '8 Mile' producer Brian Grazer, and Sara Ramaker of Death Row Pictures. The script was initially penned by Joe Robert Cole, with Brewer writing the latest draft, and will feature music from Snoop Dogg's catalog.
The cast is filling out with other key figures from the era, including Myles Bullock Be, who was previously announced to play Dr. Dre. Shakur and Snoop Dogg, both signed to Death Row Records in the 1990s, collaborated on hits like '2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted' before a reported falling out related to the coastal rap rivalry.
