Capcom pushes Monster Hunter Wilds to catch up to World's massive sales
Monster Hunter Wilds had a rougher launch than Capcom hoped, with ongoing performance bugs and a delayed endgame holding it back. According to a Eurogamer report on the company's latest financials, the 2023 title has even been outsold by 2021's Monster Hunter Rise.
Now, the publisher is on a mission to turn its fortunes around. PC Gamer notes Capcom's goal is for Wilds to eventually "surpass" the colossal sales of Monster Hunter World.
To build that "medium to long term" momentum, the strategy involves a generous free demo, a major planned expansion, and what the financial report calls "pricing measures." Whether that's enough to close the gap with the franchise's biggest hit remains to be seen.
