The actress also discussed initially struggling with how to play the heroic Furiosa, joking she is allergic to purely good characters. She told the audience she figured out the role by focusing on the character's selfish desire for revenge against the villain, which then manifested as a rescue mission.
Reflecting on the character's impact, Theron said people frequently show her Furiosa tattoos. She also meets children named after the warrior, which she called the weirdest thing ever. She credited the power of storytelling, not herself, for the icon's lasting resonance.
Theron concluded by praising director George Miller, saying the story came from deep within him. She downplayed being seen as a role model, stating she is a flawed person who just aims to be a good mother.
