Chris Hansen Says Robert Pattinson's Primetime Is Bizarre, Detached From Reality
The real Chris Hansen has finally watched Robert Pattinson play him in A24's thriller Primetime, and he is not a fan.
According to /Film, Hansen appeared on Fox News to clarify he was not involved with the movie's creation and only saw it after it was finished. He did give a nod to Pattinson's performance, calling it a decent impersonation, albeit one that was too theatrical.
But his overall take was harsh. Hansen described the film as a strange experience that constantly jumped between realism and fantasy, per his comments reported by Variety. He said it felt completely disconnected from the actual events of his investigations or his personal experiences.
Hansen concluded he didn't understand the film's purpose, stating he was left unsure of what it was trying to say.
The movie, which draws from a 2007 Esquire article, also stars Skyler Gisondo and Merritt Wever as fictionalized versions of people involved in the To Catch a Predator sting operations.
