Chuck Lorre pitched a wild 'Big Bang' spinoff 'no one really liked'

Chuck Lorre apparently had a strange idea while his hit sitcom 'The Big Bang Theory' was winding down, per Variety. It wasn't for another prequel like 'Young Sheldon,' but for a fantastical project called 'Stuart Saves the Universe.'

The producers admitted to the outlet that 'no one really liked the idea' at first, but they managed to pull it off anyway. The result is now being called the franchise's most ambitious swing yet.

TVLine's review of the resulting show, now titled 'Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,' confirms its bold scope. Critic Ryan Schwartz called it the most ambitious 'Big Bang Theory' spin-off to date.
