Cliffhanger Reboot with Lily James and Pierce Brosnan Delayed to 2027
Per JoBlo, the upcoming Cliffhanger reboot has been pushed way back. The film, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Lily James and Pierce Brosnan, is now scheduled to debut in February 2027 in the U.S., with a German release following in April of that same year.
The delay comes after the production changed hands. The project moved from the financially troubled Row K to the distributor Neon. Sources told JoBlo that Row K will still be involved in some way, despite Neon taking over.
Neon reportedly has big ambitions for the film, hoping it will become the company's most successful theatrical release. The movie cost an estimated $100 million to produce. Row K sold its rights to Neon for $12 million, with an additional $20 million commitment for marketing.
Lily James shared her enthusiasm for the project, telling JoBlo she did all her own climbing during the shoot. "I did five hours of climbing a day for many weeks," James said. "I fell completely in love with it." The reboot features Brosnan as a mountaineer whose daughter, played by James, must survive a kidnapping ordeal in the mountains.
