Control Resonant gets launch day patch to nerf enemy health pools
Remedy Entertainment has launched Control Resonant alongside a day-one hotfix specifically designed to make enemies less spongy. PC Gamer reports the patch, version 1.3.3, is a direct response to early player and critic feedback that the game's foes were too tanky.
According to a blog post from the developer, the hotfix targets three key complaints: enemy health pools feeling too high, the number of hits required to stun enemies for executions, and protagonist Dylan Faden's perceived combat weakness in the game's opening hours. Remedy stated it "strongly believes these changes will improve the gameplay feel and flow while still providing a challenge."
Kotaku notes that the studio made the move after analyzing feedback from reviews and players who accessed the game early. The patch also includes a permanent reduction to the cost of respecing abilities and some UI text clarifications.
The outlet adds that while the reaction to the tweaks has been largely positive, some players on Steam were reportedly frustrated that the hotfix forced them to reinstall pre-loaded copies of the game.
Remedy also reminded players that Control Resonant features a full Assist Mode, allowing for further granular adjustments to difficulty, enemy aggression, and even enabling invulnerability.
