‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Celebrates Theatrical Release After Warner Bros. Shelved It
The long-delayed Looney Tunes film 'Coyote vs. Acme' is now in theaters, a release its director calls a victory.
Director Dave Green shared a celebratory letter on social media, per The Hollywood Reporter, declaring the release a win for everyone who fought for the movie. The film stars Will Forte as Wile E. Coyote suing the Acme Corporation over its faulty products.
The project had a rocky path. Warner Bros. shelved the completed film in November 2023, planning to take a tax write-off, according to reports. This sparked a major fan and industry backlash.
The film was rescued in March 2025 when Ketchup Entertainment acquired worldwide distribution rights for around $50 million. Green thanked the company for hearing the audience and called the release proof that movies don't just disappear.
Star Will Forte echoed the sentiment, posting a video thanking the community for its support. He said the film's themes of hope and fighting injustice mirror its own journey to the screen.
DC Studios co-head James Gunn, a producer on the film, also praised Green's character during the ordeal, saying the movie was 'too powerful to be buried.'
