‘Coyote vs Acme’ finally hits theaters after 3-year shelving saga
The long-shelved movie 'Coyote vs Acme' is finally arriving in theaters this week, per a report from Collider. The live-action/animation hybrid was one of three films famously canceled by Warner Bros. as tax write-offs.
According to the report, the film had a tumultuous journey following its initial axing. After a wave of audience support, Warner Bros. allowed producers to shop it to other studios, but talks reportedly stalled over money. Domestic distribution rights were eventually picked up by Ketchup Entertainment.
The film is directed by Dave Green. The other two movies shelved in the same move, 'Batgirl' and 'Scoob! Holiday Haunt', remain unreleased.
Warner Bros. has faced backlash for several business decisions in recent years, including its 2021 day-and-date HBO Max release strategy. That move was cited as a reason director Christopher Nolan left the studio for Universal.
