Crimson Desert demo streams instantly on Twitch for a 20-minute trial
Pearl Abyss has rolled out a new way to test its upcoming game, Crimson Desert. According to a report by VGC, a 20-minute playable demo is now available directly through Twitch, powered by Amazon's GameLift streaming service.
The demo requires no download. Players simply need to be logged into a Twitch account and can start playing instantly from their desktop browser. The trial supports both keyboard and mouse controls as well as gamepads.
The streaming tech is designed to lower the barrier to trying a demo, as VGC notes the traditional method of downloading a build can cause player interest to fade. During testing, the outlet reported the demo loaded in about three seconds, placing players in a segment from the game's later stages.
While Amazon's service supports 1080p at 60 frames per second, VGC observed the Crimson Desert stream showed noticeable compression, suggesting the priority is on quick access rather than showcasing full visual fidelity. Pearl Abyss recently rebranded the game as Crimson Desert Enhanced following a major update.
