Criterion exec says Need for Speed, Burnout are 'not the focus'
Need for Speed fans, don't hold your breath. According to a report from IGN, the racing series is officially on the back burner at Criterion Games.
During a celebration of the studio's 30th anniversary, Battlefield Studios Europe's vice president Rebecka Coutaz was quoted as saying, "We're not here to talk about the past" when asked about the iconic franchises. The studio's current priority is reportedly the Battlefield series.
This blunt confirmation, per GameSpot, dashes hopes for a new NFS or Burnout game anytime soon. It seems Criterion has left its racing roots in the rearview mirror.
