Crystal Lake Series Will Preview at NYCC Before Peacock Debut
Horror fans are getting an early look at the upcoming Friday the 13th prequel. According to a report from JoBlo, the premiere episode of "Crystal Lake" will have an exclusive screening at New York Comic Con this fall.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, at 6:30 PM on the Empire Stage. A panel featuring creator Brad Caleb Kane and stars including Linda Cardellini and Callum Vinson will follow the screening.
For everyone else, the full eight-episode series is set to launch on Peacock one week later, on October 15, 2026. The show serves as a prequel, exploring the life of Pamela Voorhees before the events of the original slasher film.
Per the outlet, the series will follow Pamela, played by Cardellini, as a grieving mother after her son Jason's drowning. The story begins when two strangers arrive to investigate her past, triggering a dark chain of events.
Creator Kane has previously indicated the show will start as a psychological drama before eventually delivering the franchise's signature horror. The series has also been acquired for international distribution in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
