Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 review roundup hails 'brutal & violent' sequel

The first reviews for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 have dropped ahead of its October 20 release on Netflix.

According to a roundup by MovieWeb, critics are praising the sci-fi action sequel's animation and visceral action. IGN's review called it a "spectacular season of television" with "stunning fight scenes and astonishing violence," while Polygon hailed it as a "stellar new season" and a masterpiece.

However, the season's new narrative approach is proving divisive. The show is described as an "ambitious ensemble story" by GamesRadar, forgoing a single protagonist for a wider cast. Gizmodo noted it falls short of the first season's "dizzying highs" but tells a "far more expansive story."

Kotaku was critical of the plot structure, saying the story feels disjointed and could have been trimmed for a more concise conclusion, per MovieWeb's report. The show reportedly follows several figures in Night City, including a chromeless former edgerunner, a revenge-driven nomad, a corpo transformed by the Maelstrom Gang, and a young filmmaker.
