Dark Souls 2 Gets Co-Op Overhaul After 12 Years With New Mod
A new mod has arrived to smooth over the famously bumpy co-op experience in Dark Souls 2. Per PC Gamer, modder Yui just released an alpha version of 'Dark Souls 2: Seamless Co-op.'
The project allows for a continuous multiplayer session with up to five other players, from the game's opening moments all the way to the final boss. This eliminates the frequent interruptions of the original system, where players had to repeatedly summon each other and contend with blocking fog walls.
According to the mod's Patreon page, progression is now synced between players, and death no longer ends the session. Instead, fallen allies respawn at their last checkpoint. The mod's features are accessed through newly created in-game items with lore-friendly names.
Yui has reportedly been quick to support the mod post-release, already patching a major performance issue that affected Intel CPU users. Similar projects overhauling the multiplayer for Elden Ring and the first Dark Souls were also created by the same modder.
