Deacon Phillippe talks debut film 'Brother Save Us' and famous parents
Deacon Phillippe says he wasn't planning to coast on his famous lineage. The 24-year-old son of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe told Variety he prioritized his education, graduating from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts earlier this year.
His feature film debut is in the indie sci-fi thriller 'Brother Save Us.' According to the outlet, Phillippe plays a farmer fighting to save his family land and protect his younger brother from an AI corporation in a dystopian America.
Phillippe also contributed to the film's music, recording an end credits song with friends in NYU's studios. He called the experience of making the movie "magical," noting the script's portrayal of brotherly love resonated with his own life.
The film is set to debut publicly at the Nashville Film Festival later this week. Phillippe's next role is in the Netflix romantic comedy adaptation 'Better Than the Movies.'
He acknowledged his advantageous start, stating, "I acknowledge that I'm extremely lucky." However, he added his goal is to work hard and prove himself on his own terms.
