Deadlock gets massive map makeover and six new heroes, including the meme-famous Rat King

Valve just dropped a colossal update for its in-testing MOBA Deadlock, completely transforming the game's look and adding a fresh batch of characters, per PC Gamer.

The entire battleground has been visually overhauled, with each of the three main lanes now sporting its own unique aesthetic. One area shines as a bustling downtown, another is draped in gothic, haunted vibes, and a third takes on a grim, financial district feel. Four smaller districts, including a theater zone and a Chinatown, are nestled between them, complete with new environmental details like haunted book piles and slimy trash monsters.

According to PC Gamer, six new heroes are on the way, with their rollout determined by community votes. The lineup includes the fan-favorite Rat King, a crowned rodent who started as a community concept. Other additions are a nurse armed with a giant needle, a floating chess master, a skeleton with a rocket launcher, a suspicious-looking elderly witch, and a young artist. The first two are scheduled to debut this Friday.

Rock Paper Shotgun reports the update also adds over 10,000 new voice lines, a revamped ping system, and a host of UI and accessibility improvements, including options to modify enemy colors and auto-fire settings. Custom lobbies now support more spectators.

Despite the huge scope of changes, Deadlock remains in a closed beta, accessible only by invitation. Valve has not announced a date for a public release.
