Denzel Washington and Christopher McQuarrie land new thriller with 2027 release
Denzel Washington and Christopher McQuarrie are officially teaming up for a new original thriller. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists have greenlit the untitled film and set a theatrical release date for October 1, 2027.
The project, once known as *The Frame*, will star Washington as a cop turned prisoner. According to the reports, his character gets a terminal diagnosis while incarcerated and is released with little time left. He then returns to a family he left behind.
McQuarrie is directing, marking a departure from his long-running collaboration with Tom Cruise on the *Mission: Impossible* series. The script is from writers Scott Barkan and Gregg Zehentner.
Filming is set to begin this November in New Jersey. The movie landed on Washington's schedule after a planned Netflix film about Hannibal was paused due to budget issues, notes ScreenRant.
