Diablo 5 Cinematics Begin Filming as Development Marches On

The road to Diablo 5 is rolling, with motion capture for the game's cinematics now underway. Per IGN, Blizzard cinematic director Neil David Carter recently posted a photo from a mocap stage with a simple caption marking the "first shoot" for the sequel.
This step suggests the game's core story is largely fleshed out, according to reporting from both IGN and Polygon. Blizzard previously announced Diablo 5 is targeting a spring 2029 launch, which would put it about six years after Diablo 4.
The sequel is confirmed to be using a modified version of the Diablo 4 engine. IGN notes the game will reportedly feature procedurally generated maps, aiming for a more complex experience than its predecessor.
Polygon reports the story will be set roughly a century after Diablo 4, in a fallen Sanctuary where the demon Diablo has already won. The studio has reportedly promised to continue supporting Diablo 4 with content even after the new game launches.
