Diablo Cody Says 'Jennifer's Body 2' Is Coming 'Imminently'

The long-discussed sequel to the cult horror-comedy is officially on the fast track. Screenwriter Diablo Cody confirmed in a podcast interview that work on a follow-up to 'Jennifer's Body' is happening 'imminently,' per TheWrap.

Cody teased that the new film will delve deeper into the psychology of Megan Fox's demon-possessed character, Jennifer. She described Jennifer as a fundamentally lonely and insecure figure, even at her most powerful.

The writer praised Fox's original performance for capturing both the character's ferocity and her vulnerability. Cody indicated the sequel will expand on these sympathetic qualities, exploring the character's past and emotional journey.

This update follows a hint from co-star Amanda Seyfried last year, who suggested a sequel was in development. The 2009 film, which also starred Seyfried, was initially met with harsh reviews but has since gained a dedicated fanbase.

Cody has previously expressed how meaningful the film's later cult status is to her, contrasting it with the painful reception it received upon release.
