Digital Foundry Says Elden Ring Switch 2 Port Is A Solid, Successful Release
The tech experts at Digital Foundry have weighed in on the Switch 2 version of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, and the verdict is positive. According to their review, the game's delay to allow for performance adjustments was "immensely beneficial to the quality of the final release."
Per Nintendo Life, the port delivers a broadly PlayStation 4-level feature set. Digital Foundry notes it comes with improved frame rates, higher average resolutions, and significantly faster loading times compared to last-gen consoles, plus a decent handheld experience. There is no graphics mode toggle, so all visual settings are fixed.
On resolution, the outlet reports the game uses a dynamic range of 720p to 1080p when docked. In portable mode, it runs between 432p and 864p. The frame rate is capped at 40fps, but Digital Foundry says that target is not sustainable for long, with typical docked play resting more often between 30 and 35fps. Portable performance is in a similar range.
Loading times are highlighted as a particular strength on the Switch 2, being notably faster than on older rival hardware. The review concludes the port is solid, though it lacks the high-end visual features found on other current-gen platforms.
