Disney greenlights animated Artemis Fowl TV series

The boy genius is getting another shot, this time in animation. An Artemis Fowl animated TV show is officially in the works for Disney Channel and Disney+, according to Variety. Author Eoin Colfer broke the news himself at New York Comic Con during a panel celebrating the books' 25th anniversary.
Colfer will serve as an executive producer on the series. Per the logline, it follows 13-year-old prodigy Artemis Fowl, who discovers a hidden, high-tech world of armed fairies. His plan to capture one to steal its magic is driven by a desperate need to heal his mother and save his family.
This marks a new attempt to adapt the property after a poorly received live-action film landed on Disney+ in 2020 and was later removed. The book series, which launched in 2001, includes 11 novels and has moved over 35 million units globally in nearly 50 languages.
Disney Kids & Family president Ayo Davis praised the stories for their memorable characters and inventive worlds, saying the animated format allows them to welcome new fans while respecting the existing ones. Colfer expressed confidence in the project, stating he feels the fairy world is in excellent hands with the talented team assembled. Ben Juwono and Colleen Evanson are also attached as executive producers.
