Disney+ Orders 'Spaceship Earth' Pilot Based on EPCOT Ride

A TV series based on the classic EPCOT ride "Spaceship Earth" is officially in the works at Disney+, according to reports from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. The streamer has given the project a pilot order.

Jason Fuchs, a co-showrunner on the upcoming "IT" prequel "Welcome to Derry," has been tapped as the showrunner and writer. He will also executive produce, per Variety.

Lee Toland Krieger, known for directing on shows like "You" and "Shadow & Bone," is also on board. The project is said to be directly inspired by the iconic, geodesic sphere attraction at Walt Disney World's EPCOT park.
