Double Fine Gives Away Brutal Legend for 666 Minutes After Tim Curry's Death
Double Fine Productions is offering its 2009 game Brutal Legend as a free download on PC for exactly 666 minutes. According to IGN, the giveaway is a tribute to actor Tim Curry, who died at 80.
Curry provided the voice for the game's villain, Doviculus. The promotion is live on the studio's itch.io page, where the company posted a message reading "Rest in peace, dark prince." PC Gamer notes the free claim window ends at 3:06 AM Pacific Time on Thursday, August 27.
Per PC Gamer, this marks the second time Double Fine has run this specific promotion. The studio previously gave the game away for the same duration to honor Ozzy Osbourne, who has a cameo role.
The studio recently regained the rights to its catalog after becoming independent again from Microsoft. Double Fine has also announced it is reviving its internal Amnesia Fortnight game jam, IGN reports.
