Dragon Quest Creator Makes a Game in 30 Minutes Using AI

Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii has released a new, AI-generated game called 'Komiya in the Interrogation Room' after reportedly spending just half an hour on it. According to Kotaku, the short browser game tasks players with interrogating a 72-year-old suspect, managing Agitation and Resistance meters to uncover the truth behind his lies.
Horii explained the process in a social media post, comparing it to his earlier work. Per his statement, making a game decades ago required doing all the coding, writing, and artwork alone. He now says that with artificial intelligence, a person who lacks those technical skills can still produce a complete game by directing the AI.
The director has been vocal about his support for the technology in recent months. Polygon notes his praise for how AI slashes development time, transforming a process that once took months or years into a 30-minute task.
Horii is currently writing the scenario for the upcoming Dragon Quest XII. His classic 1983 title, The Portopia Serial Murder Case, is reportedly getting a traditional, human-developed remake from G-Mode next year.
