Druski to Host SNL, Becoming First Online Creator to Get the Gig

Saturday Night Live is breaking new ground. According to Variety, comedian and online personality Druski, real name Drew Desbordes, will host the November 7 episode of the sketch show.

This marks the first time SNL has tapped an online content creator to serve as host. The news was confirmed by multiple sources, though representatives for the show and for Druski did not comment.

Druski joins a Season 52 roster of hosts that has already included basketball star Jalen Brunson, actor Dakota Johnson, and comedian Shane Gillis. The season's Halloween episode will be hosted by "Obsession" breakout Indie Navarette with musical guest Gracie Abrams.

The season, which premiered on September 26, has already seen a few headline-making moments. Variety notes Shane Gillis sparked outrage with a misogynistic opening monologue, and Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance during Dakota Johnson's monologue on the October 3 show.

The cast was finalized in September with two new additions: stand-up comedian Grace Reiter and filmmaker Saidah Belo-Osagie. Most members of the previous season's cast returned for Season 52.
