Dying Light: The Beast ditches PS4 and Xbox One as old consoles can't keep up

Last-gen players are officially left out in the cold. Developer Techland has axed the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of its open-world zombie game Dying Light: The Beast, according to multiple reports.

The studio cited the "technical realities of development," with outlets like VGC and Polygon noting the game's visuals were simply too advanced for the older systems to handle. IGN reports the developer accepted these hardware limitations, while Kotaku specifically pointed to a lack of "processing power and memory" on the aging machines.

Per Push Square, the cancellation means Techland will be providing refunds to some players. The DLC was originally promised as part of the Dying Light 2 season pass, which included content for both PS4 and PS5. The first piece of DLC arrived for both, but The Beast is now a no-show for last-gen.
