EA Sports scraps hated CFB 27 microtransactions after fan revolt
Well, that was quick. EA Sports is yanking the reviled microtransaction system out of College Football 27 after a tidal wave of fan backlash. According to GameSpot, the publisher is removing all paid progression options from the Road to Glory and Online Dynasty modes.
Push Square reports the decision came after fans threatened a boycott over the inclusion of solo-mode progression boosters. The company admitted in a statement, obtained by GameSpot, that they 'missed the mark' with the system.
It's a rare retreat for the publisher, which has faced criticism in the past for aggressive monetization in its sports titles. For now, CFB 27 players can grind for upgrades the old-fashioned way.
