Eddie Murphy Rumored to Star in a New Peacock Series from Mad Men Creator
A fresh TV rumor has Eddie Murphy and Mad Men mastermind Matthew Weiner potentially collaborating. Per a report from industry insider Jeff Sneider, picked up by JoBlo, the pair are developing a brand-new series for the Peacock streaming service.
The project is said to be in development with 101 Studios and is explicitly not a reboot or continuation of Weiner's acclaimed drama Mad Men. Details about the plot or characters are currently under wraps.
If it moves forward, this would represent Murphy's first lead role in a scripted TV show since his early days on Saturday Night Live. For Weiner, it would be his biggest television project since the 2018 Amazon anthology The Romanoffs.
Landing Murphy would be a notable get for Peacock. The comedy star has remained active in film, with recent projects including Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F and the upcoming animated features Shrek 5 and a Donkey spinoff.
